Tsang was originally 臧 tsang which is composed of 臣 ch'ên as radical inserted in 戕 ch'iang a spear, and which is now reserved for such meanings as good, right. The 艸 ts'ao vegetation was added later in order to mark the sense to conceal. In modern days it means a place for keeping things, a treasury; read ts'ang2, the character means to conceal, to store up. 141.
